Candice L. Klein – Pastor
The Rev. Candice L Klein comes to us most recently from East Texas. A graduate of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Candice has lived, worked, and studied in NY, MO, TN, TX, WV, IN, back again to TX, and now (thankfully) the beautiful state of Alabama. She has a ministry background in pastoral care, chaplaincy, small groups, music, support and recovery, senior adults, and solo pastoring. She finds great joy in serving the Patient Lord and this fascinating denomination as Pastor of the Big Cove Presbyterian Church in Brownsboro. Candice lives with her little dog, Molly, who believes herself to be ferocious, until you come inside, when she is just dang glad ta see ya!
Jervon Niska – Pianist/Accompanist/Choir Director
Jervon Niska is from Lakeville MN, an only child raised in an active Christian family. He attended Maplewood Academy, a four-year boarding school in Hutchinson, MN, where among his other studies he also gained musical and leadership skills. He received a scholarship to Oakwood University, which brought him to Huntsville. He is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance and plans to complete his degree in 2017. Despite his young age, Jervon has a great deal of prior experience in church and worship music, and he also enjoys playing other genres. He began his musical ministry early by helping lead worship on a number of occasions as Praise Team leader at his church in Hutchinson. Here in Huntsville he served as Contemporary Worship Leader at First Presbyterian Church, and also performed other musician duties there before coming to Big Cove. In addition, he has performed with Huntsville Master Chorale as well as The Oakwood University Choir, and has served as a Music Theory tutor at Oakwood University. Jervon has a love of the outdoors and he enjoys sharing his gifts and talents as a Christian and a musician with all of God’s children.
Sandra Stephens – Treasurer
Sandra Stephens assumed the Treasurer position of Big Cove Presbyterian Church (USA) in 2017. Sandra serves as Chief Financial Officer of Keel Point LLC, a Wealth Management Firm, whose corporate office is in Huntsville. Prior to joining Keel Point she worked in the banking industry for 30 years in various executive positions. Sandra is a graduate of the University of Montevallo and Birmingham Southern College, with degrees in both Finance and Accounting. She and her husband Jeff reside in Hampton Cove and have two adult children, Kenton and Diana.
Diane Lee – Bookkeeper
Diane Lee has served as the church bookkeeper since 2010. Diane is retired from ADTRAN where she worked in the accounting department for 15 years. Previously, she served as Comptroller of the Huntsville Museum of Art. Diane and her husband Tennent are members of Big Cove and have four children and three teenage grandchildren. They both have enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Greece and Italy since their retirement.
Mary Hooper – Administrative Assistant
Mary joined the Big Cove staff in 2012. For 32 years Mary taught English at the high school or college level, most recently at Randolph School. But she also taught freshman composition and literature in the department of English at UAH for 4 years when she and her husband (Charles Boley) first moved to Huntsville in 1984. She grew up in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, attended college in North Carolina, and earned a Master’s Degree in English literature from Vanderbilt University. She has been a member of Faith Presbyterian Church for as long as she has lived in Huntsville. She and Charles have been married since 1982, and they have an adult daughter, Elizabeth, who lives and works in Huntsville. Mary enjoys reading; walking; working crossword, Sudoku, and other puzzles; going to Carolina beaches; and watching birds and looking at the stars with Charles.
